HID Human Interface Device

The Human Interface Device protocol defines the options for connecting mouse, keyboard and other input devices. As the name expresses this protocols refers invariably to devices being directly operated from the people themselves. These are for example graphic tableaus, touch screens or joystick and game pads. However be careful, because not every device mentioned is operating solely according to the HID protocol. Some may require special drivers that require a transparent USB transmission.

Like every other protocol HID is based on the detection of fixed attributes of the different devices. Thus standard option will be recognized and supported while the specials like extended keyboards with buttons for umpteen extra functions and similar tasks will not be supported.
