KVM Switching and Image Processing
The new ServSwitch(tm) 4Site combines classic KVM switching with image processing. Like a classic ServSwitch, the 4Site can share a single monitor, keyboard and mouse with up to four computers (Laptop, Mac, Sun and more) in Full-Screen Mode. Each of the input ports can be DVI-D or VGA with a maximum resolution of 1920x 1200 (DVI) or 1600 x 1200 (VGA). Keyboard and mouse interfaces can be PS/2(r) or USB. The console port can be set to output an analogue VGA or digital DVI video signal. Keyboard and mouse is USB only. However, it's the video conversion options that make this ServSwitch outstanding: every single input video signal is not only converted, but it's grabbed, processed and output in real-time! Plus, there are three additional operating modes: Dual, Quad and Picture-in-Picture. Dual and Quad Mode ServSwitch 4Site is a ready-to-use hardware solution independent of any operating system with a high level of reliability. In Quad Mode, the output video signal receives all four incoming video signals. These display the entire screens as four tiles of equal size (scaled). The Dual Mode displays full images from two video sources side by side. With both modes, you still have full keyboard and mouse control of the selected server. Intuitive hotkey or hotmouse switching allows toggling keyboard/mouse control between the tiles (servers). A simple hotkey takes you back into non-scaled full-screen operation in case of an emergency on one the selected servers. Picture-in-Picture Mode (PiP) Similar to Quad Mode, PiP Mode combines more than one video signal and outputs them to a single screen. PiP Mode differs from Quad Mode in that a single main image displays in full output resolution and up to three of the other video signals are displayed on the right- hand side of the main picture. The size of these images can be scaled to a specific, configurable size.Again, intuitive hotkey or hotmouse switching swaps the main screen with one of the PiP images and gives you full keyboard and mouse control. Plug and Play Simply use the supplied cables to connect your computers to the ServSwitch 4Site. There is no need to install any kind of Software. Switching Modes There are six different ways of switching between video channels and display modes: 1. Using the buttons on the front of the unit 2. Using configurable hotkeys 3. Using the unit’s external configuration program on a remote computer 4. Via a serial port using the protocol DCP XML 5. Using mouse functions (Hotmouse) 6. Using a touch screen Applications The ServSwitch 4Site's features allow it to be used in a variety of environments and for many different purposes. Programmers may prefer to have a single screen on their desks but still having control over other processes, such as compilers running in the background on a second, third or fourth workstation. In NOCs or other Control Room environments, multiple sources can be monitored and operated from a single screen. Especially when being used on top of a large-scale multi user KVM switching system like ServSwitch Octet(tm), the KVM signals of up to 4 user stations can be used to feed into the ServSwitch 4Site. KVM extension then can be used to carry these four KVM signals at once over a single CATx or fibre cable in real-time. Even over IP, up to four signals can be routed or extended to a remote viewer for greater control. Return on Investment Using ServSwitch(tm) 4Site reduces the need for multiple high-end monitors without losing control or missing information of unselected keyboard/mouse servers. When used with KVM extenders, multiple signals are sent across a single link. This reduces costs on infrastructure and extender products. |
